Abstract: The review is devoted to the methods of synthesis and properties of nitronium salts. The characteristics of the nitration of various classes of organic compounds by nitronium salts are considered and new aspects of the mechanism of the nitration of aromatic compounds, discovered following the application of nitronium salts, are discussed.
The bibliography includes 144 references.
