Abstract: The basic aspects of the prediction of catalytic activity in one-component and multi-component heterogeneous catalysts and of the analysis of the mechanism of heterogeneous catalytic reactions by using pattern recognition theory with a computer are discussed. The present state of development is reviewed, and examples of the use of this method in choosing catalysts for different types of reaction are given. 53 references.
