Abstract: EPR and NMR data for paramagnetic metallocenes and diarene complexes of transition metals are presented. The analysis of the g-factors and the hyperfine and spin–spin interaction constants for the EPR spectra as well as the paramagnetic shifts in the NMR spectra have been used to determine the electronic configurations of the complexes. The manifestation of the Jahn–Teller effect in the EPR spectra of sandwich compounds is described. The scheme of the d-electronic levels in metallocenes and the mechanism of the spin delocalisation are discussed.
