Abstract: Basic knowledge about Mössbauer spectroscopy, necessary for gaining qualitative and quantitative information on the substance composition from Mössbauer spectra, is considered. Methods of Mössbauer spectra processing are discussed and databases ensuring the search for information on objects under study are described. Applications of Mössbauer spectroscopy in various fields of chemistry, mineralogy, biology and materials science are considered.
