Abstract: A systematic account is given of data on the molecular geometries of approximately 300 nitro-compounds obtained for the vapours by gas electron diffraction and microwave spectroscopy and for the crystalline phases by X-ray diffraction. Certain rules have been formulated for the variation of the geometrical parameters of the molecules in the principal classes of nitrocompounds: inorganic, aliphatic, alicyclic, and aromatic nitro-compounds, nitroamines, and salts and complexes of nitroalkanes and aromatic nitro-compounds.
The bibliography includes 181 references.
