Abstract: The analytical and physicochemical aspects of chromatography using liquid-crystal sorbents are examined and it is concluded that liquid crystals exhibit a unique separating capacity in the analysis of structural isomers. The possibility of using liquid crystals as universal sorbents with a controllable selectivity and suitable for the solution of various analytical problems is demonstrated. The results of the study of the thermodynamics of the sorption of substances by liquid crystals, phase transitions and preceding effects, etc. are presented.
