Abstract: Data on the monomeric four-membered cyclic silazane systems are surveyed and arranged systematically. The available methods for the synthesis of these compounds are examined in detail, the results of studies on the mechanism of the formation of organocyclodisilazanes are described, and the mechanisms of individual stages of this process are considered. The review includes an exhaustive bibliography on monomeric organocyclodisilazane compounds up to 1978, comprising 116 references.
