Abstract: The reactions of α,β-unsaturated heteroatomic compounds with an unshared electron pair in the heteroatom, proceeding via the 1,3-dipolar addition mechanism, are examined. The ideas about 1,3-dipolar compounds developed by Huisgen are extended to compounds with elements in the Long Periods (phosphorus and sulphur).
