Abstract:
Methods for the synthesis of bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids and also 1-benzylisoquinoline bases, which are biogenetic precursors of the dimeric alkaloids, are surveyed in the biogenetic sequence of the alkaloids. Not only total but also partial and biomimetic syntheses of bisbenzylisoquinoline bases are covered. A list of 153 references is included.
