Concentration Methods for the Determination of Trace Elements

Abstract:
Methods of concentrating trace constituents are discussed, and the quantitative parameters used to describe them are defined. The main methods of concentration (extraction, sorption, coprecipitation, evaporation, etc.) are examined and compared. Rational combinations of methods of concentration and methods of determination of trace elements are recommended, and successful examples of such combinations are quoted. Special aspects of concentration methods applicable to the analysis of high-purity materials and of natural waters are discussed. 114 references.
