Abstract: The results of studies of the mechanisms of chain reactions occurring in the devitrification of vitreous matrices are surveyed and the characteristics of the kinetics and the mechanisms of the chain reactions accompanying the devitrification process are examined: chlorination of hydrocarbons, polymerisation, copolymerisation, and graft polymerisation. The possible applied aspects of chain reactions in the devitrification of the matrix are also considered.
