Abstract: The computational and theoretical studies in the field of homogeneous polycondensation are subjected to a critical analysis on the basis of the universal classification of the kinetic and thermodynamic models used in this field. The limits of the applicability of the models are discussed from the standpoint of the physicochemical characteristics of the processes which they describe and the parameters calculated on their basis are compared with the corresponding experimental data. The fundamental problems awaiting solution by the quantitative theory of polycondensation in the present stage of its development are formulated.
The bibliography includes 297 references.
