Abstract: We have generalised recent experimental and theoretical results on a process which is uncommon in classical chemistry: long-range tunnelling electron transfer. These reactions play an important role in various areas of chemistry and biochemistry, and they offer new pathways for controlling the direction of chemical change. 94 references.
