Abstract: Methods for the synthesis of γ-piperidinones and their derivatives, including physiologically active compounds, are considered and the results of studies designed to establish the structures of certain tertiary γ-piperidinols are discussed. Research on the applications of γ-piperidinones in the syntheses of various heterocyclic compounds is surveyed.
