Reactions of Carbanions and Halogenocarbenes in Two-phase Systems
M. Makosza Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS, Poland
Abstract:
The review surveys studies on a new two-phase catalytic method whereby reactions between carbanions and halogenocarbenes can be carried out. Numerous examples of the successful application of this method to various (mainly alkylation) reactions of carbanions and halogenocarbenes are given and the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of the method compared with the traditional single-phase or pseudo-single-phase methods are discussed. Possible mechanisms of catalysis by ammonium salts in these systems are also considered. The bibliography includes 261 references.
