Abstract: The advantages and disadvantages of modern methods of synthesis of linear block copolymers using identical and different mechanisms of monomer polymerisation are considered. The attention is focussed on the synthesis of block copolymers with a controlled molecular structure and narrow molecular-mass distribution. The matrix effects that appear in block copolymerisation due to chemical complementarity of the blocks are considered.
