Abstract: The two main mechanisms of this new method – polymerisation in non-crystalline, amorphous zones and topochemical polymerisation – are closely connected with the morphology of the products. Especially detailed attention is paid to examples of topochemical polymerisation, by means of which it is possible in several cases to obtain single crystals of polymers. A list of 94 references is included.
