Abstract: Data on the chemistry of Δαβ-butenolides are surveyed and described systematically and the available information in the literature about the methods of preparation of these compounds are discussed. The chemical reactions of Δαβ-butenolides are examined and a brief account is given of the biological activity of unsaturated γ-lactones.
The bibliography includes 253 references.
