Abstract:
Proton transfer reactions involving electronically excited aromatic molecules are examined and the methods for the determination of the acidities of aromatic molecules in various electronic excited states are discussed and compared. The proton phototransfer reactions in protic and aprotic solvents and in the solid phase as well as intramolecular proton phototransfer are considered separately. Particular attention is devoted to the degradation of the electronic excitation energy in proton phototransfer reactions. The bibliography includes 186 references.
