Abstract: The reactions of electronically excited radicals of different types in liquid and solid phases and the electronic structures of the excited radicals and their kinetic characteristics are discussed. A relation is established between the type of excitation and the type of chemical reaction of the excited radicals. The kinetics and mechanisms of the quenching of excited singlet and triplet states by radicals in solid and liquid phases are discussed.
