Abstract: The information available in the literature about the applications of geroprotectors – chemical substances used in experimental gerontology to increase the life span and to retard ageing – are described systematically and analysed. The proposed mechanisms of ageing are discussed only in connection with the characteristics of the action of the geroprotectors.
