Bioantioxidants and Synthetic Inhibitors of Radical Processes
E. B. Burlakova Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract:
Data are presented for the physicochemical characteristics of bioantioxidants and the influence on their level in the lipids of organs and tissues by radical-process inhibitors introduced into animals. A wide variety of pathological states occurring against the background of changes in the amount of bioantioxidants and the possibility of treating them with the aid of synthetic inhibitors are discussed. The effectiveness of antioxidants is associated with the important role of free-radical oxidation reactions in the lipids of cell membranes. The bibliography includes 155 references.
