Abstract: Studies on the thermal decomposition of solids subjected to the influence of an electric field (EF) are analysed and the effect of the electric field on the rate of decomposition is considered. Attention is drawn to the likely usefulness of the electric field in the study and control of the rates of the thermal decomposition of solids.
