Abstract: Data on the synthesis of individual and multicomponent oxides from salts with microwave initiation published over the last 15 years are analysed. The advantages and drawbacks of using microwave heating in the synthesis of oxide materials are noted. Criteria for the selection of chemical systems for microwave heating are proposed.
