Abstract: Methods of gas chromatography using water vapour as carrier gas, various ways of generating water vapour and its mixtures with other gases, and also the usefulness of various detecting systems are surveyed. The effect of water vapour on the retention and on the form of the chromatographic zones is analysed in detail. Use of a vapour eluent shows promise in preparative gas chromatography. The bibliography contains 64 references.
