Quantitative Effect of the Pentafluorophenyl Ring on the Reactivity of Substituents

V. M. Vlasov, G. G. Yakobson

Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry of USSR Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch
Abstract: The quantitative effect of the pentafluorophenyl ring on the reactivity of substituents (hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, carboxyl, amino, hydroxyl, and halogens) is surveyed. The efficiency with which fluorine atoms at different positions in the benzene ring influence a reaction centre is discussed. An analysis of the σ-constants of the pentafluorophenyl group is also given.
A list of 106 references is included.
