Abstract: The results of studies of RNA bulge structures are reviewed. Cleavage of the phosphodiester bonds within RNA bulges is considered. Attention is focused on the factors influencing the cleavage efficiency. The state-of-the-art of the problem of targeted RNA cleavage induced by various reagents is discussed.
