Abstract: The review deals with unusual cyclophanes of the ferrocene series, which are known as ferrocenophanes. The methods of synthesis of ferrocenophane systems are described and the dependence of their properties and structures on the type and length of the bridge is discussed. Special attention has been devoted to the employment of ferrocenophane models for the solution of a number of theoretical problems in ferrocene chemistry. The stereochemistry and practical applications of ferrocenophanes are discussed. Other organometallic analogues of cyclophanes, only a limited number of examples of which are so far known, are also described.
The literature up to 1973 inclusive has been covered.
The bibliography includes 231 references.
