Rearrangements of Biradicals With Migration of an Alkyl Group or Hydrogen

Studies published during the last decade on the rearrangement of biradicals are reviewed. In contrast to monoradicals for which reliably established examples of rearrangements with 1,2-migration of an alkyl group or hydrogen are unknown, such rearrangements have been observed with biradicals. Data on the types of rearrangements of biradicals with 1,2-migration of an alkyl group and 1,2-, 1,4-, and 1,5-migrations of hydrogen from carbon to carbon or from carbon to oxygen are reviewed. The available data on the mechanisms of the rearrangements are discussed.
