Abstract: The present review deals with studies of the heat capacity of aqueous solutions of electrolytes. The material has been selected to show the extent to which the studies which have been carried out reveal the relationship between the heat capacity of the solutions and their internal chemical character, with reference to the dependence of the heat capacity of solutions on their structure, the hydration and hydrolysis of ions, the formation of acido-complexes, etc. Some promising possibilities provided by the study of the heat capacity of aqueous solutions of electrolytes have been noted. The bibliography contains 264 references.
