Elementary Reactions of Oxidation Inhibitors

E. T. Denisov

Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract: The review gives a systematic account and a critical analysis of the experimental data on the elementary reactions of phenols and aromatic amines in hydrocarbons undergoing oxidation. The results of the measurements and semiempirical estimates of the strength of the In–H bond (InH = inhibitor) in phenols and aromatic amines are examined. From the experimental data presented in the review, evidence is adduced for reaction mechanisms in the inhibited oxidation of hydrocarbons and a combined approach to the concept of the efficiency of the oxidation inhibitor is formulated.
