Abstract: The review deals with the characteristics of the heterophase polymerisation of various monomers, the effect of the transition from a homogeneous to a heterogeneous system, and certain physical factors on the rate of polymerisation, the molecular weight of polymers, and the composition of copolymers. A general account is given of published data for the morphological structure of the polymer phase formed. The views of various investigators on the mechanism of the heterophase polymerisation are discussed and the kinetic mechanisms and models of heterophase polymerisation are examined critically.
