Abstract: Publications on the effect of the natural radiation of radioactive inorganic salts on their radiation-chemical stability are analysed. The main rules governing radiation-chemical processes in radioactive salts are examined. The effects of recoil atoms produced in radioactive disintegration, chemical impurities, and the intrinsic charge on the mechanism of the radiolysis of radioactive compounds are discussed. A detailed account is given of the effect of variation in the intensity of self-irradiation on the yield of decomposition products from certain radioactive salts (sulphates of Group II metals).
A list of 55 references is included.
