Macromolecular and Oligomeric Compounds as Stabilisers for Polymers
L. M. Terman, L. S. Kochneva Institute of Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Gor'kii
Abstract:
The preparation is described of various types of macromolecular and oligomeric compounds, together with their use as stabilisers for polymers (to heat and light as well as to oxidation). Possible mechanisms of their action are discussed. Carbon-chain polymers, macromolecular and oligomeric compounds containing elements in Groups IV–VI of the Periodic System (silicon, tin, nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen, and sulphur), and polymers having a system of conjugated double bonds are considered as stabilisers. These products have the advantages over the usual stabilisers of being polyfunctional, non-volatile, long lived in the polymers, and in individual cases considerably more effective. A list of 221 references is included.
