Preparation of Vicinal Difunctional Compounds by the Converted Electrophilic Halogenation of Multiple Bonds
L. S. Boguslavskaya
Abstract:
The halogenation of unsaturated compounds in various reactive solvents (water, mineral acids, lower aliphatic alcohols and acids, etc.), involving the addition of halogen and a solvent fragment at the multiple bond, is discussed. The reasons for the varying orientation in the addition of unlike species at the multiple bond, as a function of the structure of the unsaturated compound, the type of electrophilic halogen, and the nucleophile, are considered in terms of the theory of halogenonium ions.
