Abstract: The review deals with reactions involving the opening of saturated nitrogen-containing rings at the C–N bond under the influence of acids, their anhydrides, esters, acid halides, and a number of other electrophilic agents. The use of the reverse Ritter reaction and of the Braun reaction for the cleavage of saturated heterocycles containing a secondary nitrogen atom is discussed.
The bibliography includes 137 references.
