Abstract: Recent advances in the field of studies of the structures and the mechanisms of action of iron-containing oxygenases are considered. Examples of chemical modelling of these enzymes are given, which is very important for the design of efficient bio-inspired catalysts for selective hydrocarbon oxidation and directed oxygenation of non-activated C–H and C=C bonds in multifunctional molecules.
