Abstract: This paper reviews the theory of thermogalvanic cells with metal or halogen electrodes and a single fused salt, and analyses the results of experimental studies of thermogalvanic cells (including those obtained in the author's laboratory). Some examples of the application of thermopotentials in studies of the physical chemistry of fused salts are discussed.
