Abstract:
The available methods for the generation of acyl radicals and their reactions in solutions are reviewed. The effect of stabilising and polar factors on the reactivity of acyl radicals and the mode of their addition to unsaturated molecules are discussed. The characteristics of the reactions involving acyl radicals, initiated by various methods (by peroxides, ultraviolet light, γ-irradiation, etc.) have been examined. Much attention has been devoted to the role of acyl radicals in chain processes constituting the basis of new methods for the synthesis of carbonyl compounds. The bibliography includes 266 references.
