Abstract:
Methods of measurement of small separation coefficients are reviewed. The methods cover the whole range of separation conditions used in practice. Their main characteristics are tabulated, and each method is discussed mathematically in detail. The limitations of their applicability are considered, together with the magnitude of likely sources of error. The preferred regions for the various methods are identified, specific features of the experimental procedure are listed, and the apparatus is described. Most of the examples are taken from papers on the separation of isotopes, because this work demands the highest precision and reliability in the measurement of separation coefficients, and offers the widest choice of published results. 87 references.
