Abstract: The review deals with the methods of synthesis and reactivities of N-vinyl derivatives of pyrrole, indole, and carbazole. Their chemical properties have been compared with one another and also with those of aryl vinyl ethers and enamines. Since the reactions of N-vinylpyrroles have been inadequately investigated, all the principal chemical properties of this series will be considered mainly with N-vinylindole as an example, this compound having been most thoroughly investigated by the authors of the review. The bibliography includes 201 references.
