Abstract: The review describes the methods of synthesis of β-substituted furan derivatives. Particular attention was devoted to the methods based both on furan itself and its α-monosubstituted derivatives. This approach to the problem arises from the fact that at the present time compounds of the furan series, for example furfural, furan, silvan, etc. are readily available and are manufactured on a commercial scale. The bibliography includes 202 references.
