Abstract: The review deals with the chemical study of natural attracting substances in insects. Insect attractants have been classified in accordance with structural factors: (1) unsaturated alcohols and their acetates; (2) aliphatic acids; (3) terpene-like substances. The methods of isolation of new attractants, biological tests, proof of individuality, determination of structure, and syntheses have been described in detail. The bibliography includes 140 references.
