Abstract:
This review deals with the literature data on the conformations and intramolecular interactions of nucleosides, nucleotides, and their derivatives: nucleotide esters, nucleoside cyclic phosphates, oligonucleotides, nucleoside pyrophosphates (including nucleotide coenzymes), ATP, and nucleotidopeptides. The problem of the degree of bending of the pentofuranose ring and its effect on the orientation of the ring substituents, including the effect on the structure of the cis-2',3'-glycol group, which is revealed in a number of specific reactions, is discussed together with the question of the relative positions of the base and sugar in nucleosides. The bibliography includes 268 references.
