Abstract: The present review examines a new field of polymerisation catalysis – the catalytic synthesis of optically active polymers of various classes: (1) poly-α-alkenes under the influence of dissymmetric catalysts, acting as anionic or cationic catalysts, and (2) poly-oxides and poly-imines under the influence of both heterogeneous and homogeneous coordination catalysts. The stereospecific polymerisation of optically active alkenes and the stereoselective polymerisation of racemic alkenes using optically active catalysts are examined. The bibliography contains 127 references.
