Abstract: This the first review devoted specifically to polymerisation processes initiated by organomagnesium compounds. Attention is concentrated mainly on the anionic polymerisation of unsaturated monomers (hydrocarbons, acrylates, nitriles, vinyl-pyridines, halogeno-derivatives, etc.). The review also includes short sections on the anionic polymerisation of carbonyl derivatives and cyclic monomers, on cationic polymerisation, and on initiating systems of the Ziegler–Natta type. The bibliography contains 215 references.
