Abstract: The review deals with the questions of the mechanism of the reduction of rare-earth elements at a stationary mercury cathode and the conditions of their electrochemical deposition and separation, and of their extraction by alkali metal amalgams, are described and discussed. Examples of the separation of almost all the rare-earth elements at a mercury cathode are quoted. The bibliography incorporates 103 references.
