Abstract: The review discusses the use of natural sorbents (proteins, carbohydrates, and optically active quartz) and also artificial dissymmetric sorbents (based on silica gel and activated carbon) for the chromatography of racemates. Gas chromatography is very effective for the separation of diastereomers, but is less suitable for the direct separation of optical isomers. On the other hand, dissymmetric ion-exchange sorbents, which are considered in detail in the review, may find wider practical application. The list of references contains 197 items.
