Abstract: The modern trend in medicinal chemistry consists of designing multifunctional drugs with a wide variety of targets. This review considers one of the ways of development of such drugs, namely, the introduction of nitrogen monoxide-generating fragments into molecules of known drugs. Examples of syntheses and the results of biological activity assays are shown for O-nitro derivatives of various drugs.
