Abstract: Data on protective groups for the thiol function of cysteine and methods of disulfide bonds formation used in modern peptide chemistry are considered and systematised. The advantages and disadvantages of protective groups, of reagents used for cyclisation, and possible side reactions associated with them are described. The bibliography includes 119 references.
